NRSWA – New Roads and Street Works Act

Course Description

This NRSWA – New Roads and Street works Act will provide you with the mechanism for recognising competence in excavation and reinstatement in the highway.
NRSWA Operative Units of competence within the New Roads and Street works Act are:

  • Location and avoidance of underground apparatus.
  • Signing, lighting and guarding.
  • Excavation in the highway.
  • Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
  • Reinstatement of sub-base and road base in non-bituminous materials.
  • Reinstatement in cold-lay bituminous materials.
  • Reinstatement in hot-lay bituminous materials.
  • Reinstatement of concrete slabs.
  • Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

Course Details – Supervisor

NRSWA Supervisor Units of competence within the New Roads and Street works Act are:

  • Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
  • Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding.
  • Monitoring excavation in the highway.
  • Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
  • Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base and road base in non-bituminous materials.
  • Monitoring reinstatement in bituminous materials.
  • Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs.
  • Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

Requirements

A good level of written and spoken English is required to successfully complete this course. If you have any concerns regarding this please contact our office and we discuss available options (e.g. hiring a translator at an additional cost).

 

How is the course delivered / assessed?

The information on this course is generally delivered through a combination of practical assessments and classroom training. At the end of the five days, two days (re-assessment) or 1 day (2/10) candidates will be required to pass a multiple choice test.

 

What is awarded after completion of the course?

Once the course has been completed candidates will receive a CABWI Certificate and SWQR ID card.

 

When does the qualification expire?

The certificate and card lasts for 5 years.

 

How to renew the qualification?

In order for candidates to renew their NRSWA qualification they must attend the 2 day refresher course.
